BCCI For Indian Football Dreams?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Aug 4 2009

In a slightly bizarre twist, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is requesting the BCCI to help it with its football programme by funding it. Indian football has been languishing and one of the reasons being the lack of funds. Now the AIFF wants to put a programme in place known as “Goal 2011″ to ensure that India will have the best lot of twenty-five players in ready preparation for the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar. Interestingly currently Praful Patel of the Nationalist Congress Party is heading the football body while Sharad Pawar who heads the NCP is also the ICC Vice President. The proposal is for a two million dollar (peanuts as far as the BCCI is concerned) so that players can be paid compensation for being put in the camp instead of playing for their respective clubs.
